My brother, Trooper Joe, is still out here visiting in Anchorage.
Saturday we went shooting at the Rabbit Creek Rifle Range. We were joined by Rich and Brandon, two excellent guys from work. Later we had dinner with my friend Kristine.
Sunday we hit the Peanut Farm for some early morning gridiron watching [football starts in Alaska at 9am... 7am if you want to get a good seat!] with Troy and his family. Unfortunately, the Giants lost a turnover-fest. At least the game was exciting.
Yesterday we wandered around downtown Anchorage, hitting some of the souvenier shops. We were able to catch the Rangers on the Outdoor Life Network. I'll be blogging more about OLN and the Rangers, as soon as I learn a bit more about the details. From a cursory reading, it seems that Cablevision is getting Dolaned -- the same consumer unfriendly tactics the Dolan family uses are being thrown back at them by Comcast [the owners of OLN]. I'd say it serves them right, but it only serves to keep the fans of the NY Rangers from watching the games.
Today we'll be headed down to Seward for some sightseeing. Tomorrow, it's probably back to the range, and maybe some more sightseeing in the Anchorage area.
He heads out Thursday, and Friday morning I'm back to work. Interesting enough, this is the first vacation that I can remember where I was up by 6am every morning. Maybe the two times I went to Philmont Scout Ranch, but even out there I might have found a way to sleep in.
