I stumbled across MyHeritage.com the other day. They have a facial recognition service that lets you compare a person's photo with 3,200 or so famous folks. I decided to take some of the portraits and snapshots I've taken [and a few other mugshots on my hard drive] and see what came about.

Folks say that Brittany looks like Avril Lavigne, so I wasn't surprised. I guess as the percent-o-meter nears eighty, the odds are that the person in the photo submitted is actually the celebrity, or bears a striking resemblance. I decided to test it out:

The photo on the right was taken by my buddy when the Command in Chief made a visit to Elmendorf AFB last year. MyHeritage says there's a 75% chance that it's actually George W. Bush. Of course, there's a 60% chance that it's Robert De Niro and a 56% chance that's Peter Ustinov. We'll say for arguments sake [and for entertainment] that 75% means a match.

As you can see, anything below the 60% mark means the algorithms were tossed aside in favor of the dartboard method. The fancy computer program claims there's a better than fifty-fifty shot that Clutch is Spike Lee. Not to stereotype, but I've got a few frames of this guy dancing at Justin's wedding to shoot a few holes in this facial recognition software.

Maybe we should call this the blindfolded dartboard method? Sorry, Annette Mac.
I think I'm going to enjoy playing with this program for a while.
