An old PBY-5a, known as the Catalina, awaiting restoration at the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum at Lake Hood.
Eventually I'll get off my butt and get some decent late night photos [like this guy]; long exposures complete with colored flashes. What's really getting in the way right now is the cold.

I've never freaked out about wind chill before. That changed yesterday. I was dressed warm, with plenty of layers; that wind knifed through every single layer of clothing I had on. I had my gloves off for less than a minute, and it took a good hour or two before I got feeling back in my one finger tip.
There's some fancy math formula [here] to figure out the wind chill. A 15mph wind when it's -10°F outside means it feels as if it's -32°F; or more importantly, the damage done to your exposed fingers is as if it were -32°F.
So it may be a while before I snap any more photos of the old AANG Catalina. In the meantime, read up on the planes at the Lake Hood museum here, and check out more PBY-5A info here.
