Strangely, there's no antelopes. Probably too hot: it'll be 97°F every day this week.
Tip of the hat to United Airlines. Since I was able to print my boarding passes at home, I made it from my front door to the gate in around 25 minutes. I then sat down to wait for my flight. And stand, when I got tired of sitting. Then sit back down when I grew tired of standing.
The plane finally pulled up, and within an hour or so, I was nearing the front of the line to get on board.
I was a bit nervous that I'd miss my connecting flight in San Francisco. We pulled up to the gate around 8:25pm, and I had an 8:30pm flight to LAX. Fortunately, United had a plan. After implementing Operation: ALL OUR PLANES ARE LATE, I had ample time to stroll the concourse, grab a bite to eat, and watch as my 8:30 8:55 9:05 9:20 9:36pm flight was delayed a few more minutes.
All is good though. I'm on vacation, so it'll take a little bit more than some hassles as the airport to get me down.
My friend Meredith in Maryland is headed on a Monster Road Trip in a day or two. Good for her. Roadtrips are good for the soul. I'll be headed to Death Valley later this week. Temperature tomorrow? 119°F in the shade.
