Blogging will be extremely light. The site is going to get a make-over in the near future. And it's springtime in Alaska, so I've got better things to do than mess around on the computer.
In the meantime, here's a bird that was checking out my brother's backyard last year.

Vacation is over. Back to work.

Hey! Winter is halfway over! Of course, we've been getting a few inches of global warmening every day. It'll probably be the norm until spring arrives in mid-June.

This B-52D gets noisy when the wind whips across Edwards AFB. I'm not sure if it's eager to return to active duty, or just wants to get away from the ravens that crap on it all day long.

In the extended entry, you'll see some more photos of a wrecked F-101 Voodoo RF-101C Voodoo, a late 1950's jet fighter high-speed reconnaissance aircraft.
Update: Some very interesting info on the RF-101C. Aircraft similar to this one flew photo reconnaissance missions over Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, as well as serving in Vietnam.
This one is 25-30 miles outside of Elmendorf AFB. There's no place to land there in the summer, so when everything freezes we'll head back and land on a nearby lake. Until then, you'll have to sit back and enjoy the view from the air.

Went for a flight with Tony yesterday. I got a decent briefing on the role of the accelerometer, along with a quick demonstration of the difference between +2.5 G's and -0.2 G's. The demonstration was part of a larger operation known as Let's Try to Make JP Hurl.
I enjoyed the ride, even if I was glad to get back on solid ground.

The snow is melting.
Some people can't help but make a funny face every time a camera is pointed at them. Most of these individuals are in grade school.
There was a cocker spaniel wandering around, so this kitten was a little nervous.
Just messing with an idea tonight. I'll play with this one some more this summer.

Waiting for all those different lights to come on at the exact right time, and snapping the photo at that exact moment is like getting the planets to line up.
